Homelessness is a serious social concern in the Council Bluffs/Omaha metro area, as there are an estimated 1,700 homeless people in our community at any given time. In response, MICAH House is pleased to announce another homeless awareness workshop. The workshop is designed to raise awareness about homelessness and poverty through hands-on exercises and open discussion with fellow community members. Group exercises allow participants to see homelessness issues from a new perspective as well as gain insight from MICAH House staff and fellow attendees.
The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 10th from 6:30-8:30pm at St. John’s Church, 633 Willow Ave. The session will concentrate on the stereotypes and misconceptions about the homeless, the mind of poverty and the ways our community is responding to improve the lives of our region’s homeless population. Refreshments will be provided.
Anybody interested in attending the workshop to learn more about homelessness in our community, please contact Sara Hanshaw at 712.323.4416 or shanshaw@themicahhouse.org.
