So…
There are a few other places where I “spend time.” I continue to try and figure out where the best places are for me to be online to both network and learn. This is the varsity line-up for me:
Twitter: apparently I am not good at explaining what Twitter is…so I will spare you that. I think that it is powerful and if you are not on Twitter, I think you should change that today. You can find me here.
LinkedIn: LinkedIn was probably the first social networking site that I ever joined and it has continued to evolve over the years. I like LinkedIn a lot and think that while most of us do not use it proactively and aggressively enough, those that do have a pretty powerful tool. You can find me here. There are also a lot of “groups” on LinkedIn for folks from a specific area or profession, or for folks that want to network around a specific issue. I moderate a group for Diversity and Inclusion practitioners here.
Facebook: I have been “signed up” on Facebook for quite a while, but have just recently started actually using it. I have done that because everyone keeps talking about how it rocks. And I think that I agree, but I am still figuring things out…it has changed considerably. You can find me here.
RecruitingBlogs: RecruitingBlogs is a social networking community for recruiters and it is big and it is active. There are over 14,000 registered members, and I only know a few of them but the ones that I know, I like a lot. This is a pretty active and vibrant community with a lot of idea and resource exchange…which I like. I also get to start hosting a chat (part of the Talent Talk Cafe forum) in December! You can find me here.
Diversity Executive: this is a social network accompanying a fairly new magazine. i am impressed with the magazine and the network, althought there does not seem to be a great deal of interaction yet. There has been some lively dialogue around a couple of blog posts though. It is still fairly new and I think it will just keep getting better. You can find me here.
medXcentral: this is a social networking community for the medical and healthcare universe facilitated by my friend, Jim Canto. Lot of interesting intersections to be found here, as recruiters, healthcare providers, healthcare educators and others interact. You can find me here.
HRM Today: social networking for Human Resource professionals and this network is also pretty active and there is a fair amount of exchange here. HR is a pretty big profession and you can find examination of benefits, recruiting, HRIS, talent management, leadership development, professional development and other topics. HRM Today also has always felt friendly and accessible to me. You can find me here.
FriendFeed: I am very new to FriendFeed ( I was ordered to join by Mike Sansone who I met because of Twitter ), and am still figuring it out. It keeps track of my updates from all of these other places, and also keeps track of the updates of those I follow. You can find me here.
Talent Anarchy: in addtition to my own work, I am part of a collaborative effort called Talent Anarchy. We are going through a branding process right now, so I won’t say a whole lot, but we do organizational and professional development work, mostly in the form of workshops and presentations. Our generational diversity sessions have been very popular as have our Get Connected, Get Ahead workshops. Stay tuned.
