Props to The Reader and Andrew Norman for a pretty solid look at the issue of police oversight after our "mainstream media" outlets have moved on, presumably bored by their own anemic coverage of the issue. This is an incredibly important issue that is being ignored by most of the Omaha community, and if change is going to happen we must find a way to keep the heat on. Props to Willie Hamilton, Sam Walker, Cheryl Weston, Tristan Bonn, the League of Women Voters, Marlin McClarty, The Reader and others that have worked to keep the issue alive. I do not know what the opposite of "props" is, but that is what goes to Mayor Fahey, City Council, Chief Warren and the Omaha Police Union for their lack of leadership and courage. This is a pathetic example of community service being hijacked in the name of politics and perception. There are some people in this city that are very confused about who they work for.
This is a situation that will only continue to deteriorate until something very, very bad happens. And then what? All of our so called "leaders" will then take turns pointing fingers at someone else.
