September 24th, 2007
Well, as the saying goes, shift happens! I have hardly posted at all this month, but I think that I have an appropriate excuse(s). It has been a busy and full month to say the least. At the end of August I was able to participate iin the 2007 Nebraska Minority Health Conference in Lincoln on the 27th and 28th. On the evening of the 27th, the Nebraska Minority Public Health Association hosted an Awards Banquet and it was my distinct privilege to be the keynote speaker for that event. I am not sure how it was for the audience, but it was a special evening for me and an opportunity to celebrate the work of some old friends and some new friends. Normally that would be enough excitement for one week, but…
On August 31st, my wife and I were blessed with the birth of a beauuuuutiful baby girl. Gillian Mae is happy and health and rapidly approaching her 1 month birthday. She is amazing and I could easily bore you to tears about how amazing she is, but I will simply post a photo and move on!
And if THAT was not enough, I am now a gainfully self-employed, entrepreneur type person! I am planning on checking out the job market, but I am also going to pursue some independent projects in Omaha and the midwest. So…want to hire me? If so, please do not be bashful! My skills and experience are in the area of speaking, training and facilitating, strategic planning, leadership and program development, diversity and inclusion.
At any rate, please stay tuned to this site, because I am going to be scheduling some workshops to take place in October, November and December. They will not be free (’cause baby has to eat!), but they will be very high-quality workshops at very reasonable prices. I am working out the details and will hopefully have more information sometime this week. I am planning on starting with some workshops that are focused on Diversity and Inclusion, but have some other material in development as well.
And I will be posting more often…hopefully that is a good thing! I will be posting more often and am also trying to get the kinks worked out of this whole e-newsletter thing, so stay tuned. If you need to contact me, follow this link.
And I leave you with a favorite quote of mine:
"Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it." -Johann Von Goethe
