A little more shameless self-promotion…what better way to end the week!  I am biased, but I think this is going to be pretty good…well worth the time and the cost.  Not registered yet?  No better time than the present!  See you there.

2008 HRAM Diversity Session:  April 8th 2008

Luncheon Keynote and Technical Session
“Strategy and Tactics for Diversity and Inclusion:  Where We Go From Here and How We Get There”

-Joe Gerstandt

Diversity and inclusion work has come to a critical crossroads.  While important progress has been made in our organizations and communities.  We face great challenges moving forward.   While blatant acts of discrimination now fall far outside the norm, we still see many organizations without authentic investments in diversity and inclusion work.  We also see many leaders who do not understand the true value of diversity and inclusion, or question the business case.  In spite of accomplishments and progress made, this work faces a crisis of legitimacy.  It is becoming increasingly clear that what got us here, will not move us forward. As people involved in and responsible for this work, make fresh commitments to:

  • Be Bold
  • Be Innovative
  • Be Very Honest

This keynote presentation will provide participants with an inspiring and entertaining look at the significance of diversity in our work and in our lives as well as a call to action to be being bold, being innovative and being honest.

Technical Session:
“Okay, Now How Do I Do That?”

This technical session will guide the audience through an interactive examination of what a comprehensive diversity and inclusion program consists of and how to successfully build one for an organization or community.

Topics covered will include:

Diversity Councils

Training and Education
Affinity Groups / Employee Networks
Communication
Community Relationships
Recruiting
Leadership Commitment
Vendor / Supplier Diversity

The special focus of this technical session will be devoted to building your diversity plan.  Participants will receive worksheets and will be able to walk through step by step the building of your specific business case.  A couple of examples will be solicited from the audience and completed, so if you are working on a  plan for your organization, bring it to the tech session!
