May 19th, 2008
It is a beautiful Monday in Omaha! I am on the campus of UNO today speaking at the Midlands Industry Liaison Group 2008 Affirmative Action Technical Session…that is a mouthful. I am kind of the oddball on the agenda, as I am not talking about Affirmative Action or any aspect of compliance or reporting, but I am happy to be here none the less. I had a break-out session this morning and will be doing another one this afternoon. I am talking about:
- identity diversity and cognitive diversity
- what diversity really means for our organizations and communities
- the power of assumption, stereotype and cognitive bias
- the changing business landscape (innovation and relationship as the new sources of competitive advantage, the new workforce, the approaching generational transition, the new employee-employer relationship and who must do the accomodating)
Wednesday I am going back to K.C. for another session of Working with Humans, and I just rec’d confirmation that I am going to be on the agenda for the SHRM National Student Conference in Chicago. Looking forward to a short visit to the windy city. I will be in Green Bay for a client the same week, so I will basically be flying back to Omaha in time to fly to Chicago…should keep me on my toes and out of trouble.
Next week (May 30th, I have another Working with Humans sesion in Omaha, and I have just scheduled one for July, as well as one in Grand Island. I think that I will also be back in Lincoln that same week, but have not yet found meeting space that I like. Will keep you posted.
Have a great week!
