Greetings!
The Memorial Day holiday has recently passed and summer is finally here. Along with the enjoyable aspects of the season, baseball games, barbecues, and gardening, comes another more unsavory aspect of summer-OUT OF STATE PAID CIRCULATORS flooding into Nebraska pushing their dangerous political agenda.
This year Nebraska is one of five states that are a target for Californian Ward Connerly and his so called “Civil Rights Institute”. These out of state, and well financed, groups are trying to gather enough signatures to place a constitutional amendment on our November 2008 ballot.
Our best opportunity to protect programs that create a level playing field and that protect our University’s tradition of excellence in athletics and academics is to stop them from gathering enough signatures before the July 4th deadline. Our opposition will engage in any number of dirty tricks meant to confuse voters during this period. We need your eyes and ears to help us find out what they are up to.
