Potpourri Post! Catching up on stuff, asking for HELP!, soliciting feedback…

potpourri

Been a busy few weeks! Hope that things are well with you as summer is winding down. Spent a bunch of time in the beautiful city of Nashville recently, working with a client and have been to Chicago, Lake of the Ozarks and Richmond to do work since then. And there was a quick trip to Adventureland, that was not work related…on a side note, our 6 year old (soon to be 7 year old) daughter is a roller coaster junkie!

A few things…

SXSW: It is that time of year again…the time when I shamelessly beg you to consider voting for my South by Southwest session proposal. I really enjoy presenting at SxSW, but it is an incredibly competitive process. I have submitted proposals four previous years and been selected to present twice. The session I submitted this year is called Working with Humans, and as you might have guessed, it has a thing or two to do with diversity. Please consider voting for me and forcing your friends, neighbors, co-workers, enemies and frenemies to do the same. Please. Thank you kindly.

DBP: I have not done a good job of communicating this here, but I have started contributing to the Diversity Best Practices blog. I have written three posts for them and will be writing more. Here are links to those posts:

Making it Real

What is Authenticity?

Got Conflict?

On a related note, Diversity Best Practices listed me as one of the diversity thought leaders on Twitter.

Help! I have a couple of workshops coming up in the Twin Cities. While I am very good at designing and delivering valuable and engaging learning experience, I suck at marketing and promoting my work. I need to get some folks signed up for these workshops! Do you live in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area? Are you about to move there? Do you know anyone there? These are incredibly actionable, information rich workshops and I am hoping to share information and tools with as many folks as possible. If you know anyone that might be interested in something like this, here is the information:

(2) sessions of the same workshop

Sept 2nd 12:30 – 4:30 St Paul, MN

Sept 3rd 8:00 12:00 Minneapolis, MN

Blog: I recently kicked off a series of posts on diversity training. I have talked about the initial challenge and some of the basics. The next post in this series is going to be focused on behavior change. I want this series to be as useful and valuable as possible, so if there are specific issues related to this topic you would like explored please let me know. this series can be as long and rambling as we would like it to be.

Be good to each other.
